A strange thing happened yesterday whilst stopped in traffic. I was at a stand still, engine still running and about 10 foot away from the car in front. the two small amber lights were illuminated to tell me that the parking sensors were active and waiting to react to something, but then i noticed that the two red lights were lit (that would normally indicate that you're very close to something).

The amber lights were out and there was no warning tone. No one walked in front of the car and they stayed lit for about 3 seconds or so.

Anyone else had this? What does it indicate?

Cheers,

They have been known to get moisture in the sensors, maybe this is the start of that. I had to replace 2 of mine. If you get a good scanner it gives you live data on each sensor. Try that and see if it picks up anything odd with one of them.

I get that situation sometimes in the winter when the sensors get covered in snow. What I usually do is turn the sensors off then go out and clean them off, turn them back on then off again then turn the car off and when I restart the sensors are working again. This may not be your situation but it cant hurt to try and reset them.
