Front license plate?

Totally agree. I hounded my salesperson about making sure no holes were drilled in the front for the plate. When the car arrived he had Post-Its everywhere in and on the car and on all the documentation telling them not to drill the holes.

No front plates for me (but I do carry them in the trunk just in case some nice CHP person stops me and I can tell them I will have them put on right away[:X]).

Living in AZ works pretty well.[8D]

Yes, I pulled out the mesh grill and mounted my front plate to the mesh, then re-inserted the grill. No holes in the bumper! []

I have pictures in my (I know, old-fashioned film-type) camera and will post them next week after I finish off the roll.

In the meantime, you can pull the mesh grill (on the 55 AMG, at least) by threading a wire or coat hangar through and back out of the mesh and simply, but carefully pulling it straight out. There are 6 clips (3 top and 3 bottom) that hold in the mesh.

You can then either mount the license plate with small bolts with washers on the mesh in a position that covers the mesh opening (as I did and I'll be monitoring coolant temp) or in a position that extends upward to partly cover the mesh and the front bumper.

Has anyone figured out how to attach a front plate without drilling too many holes or making it look too bad? I have the black curved plate bracket but it has no way of mounting a plate to it. The dealer was just as confused.

Here's another solution for the AMG front bumper. A slightly different approach would be required for the standard bumper.
The 3M Dual Lock has worked well now for several months.
