Hi all,
I'm starting to sound like a nervous nelly here. I've been searching around the web and found a site that people wrote into www.lemonmb.com with their distaste for Mercedes.

My wife has a 2004 C230 1.8 Sport Sedan on order and I'm starting to get a little bit nervous. I know that I was born at night, but it wasn't last night so I understand that I have to take some of these complaints with a grain of salt.

Am I insaine for ordering a C230??

No

I have had my car for 21 months a 15,000 miles. So far the warranty work has been for a rattle in the passenger headrest, a loose piece of weatherstripping and one other small item which slips my mind at the moment. All were taken car of at Service A. At this time I have no issues to be addressed.

I've had my C230SportSedan since middle of January. It's a daily driver, that I've enjoyed every moment of driving. I've now racked up 10k miles, and have had two minor problems:
1) a rattle in the center vent on the dash
2) parking brake is out of adjustment

I don't think that either of the above items are worth getting worked up over, and they aren't serious enough for me to make a special trip to the dealer.

I'll have them both corrected at the 'A' service coming up in a few weeks.

I'm certain that there are people who've had problems with their C's, but there are far more people who are enjoying their cars with minimal (or no) annoyances.

Certainly, those with problems tend to be more vociferous than those without. That's only human nature. Don't let a few bad words poison the way you feel about your purchase.

My recommendations: Enjoy your car! If you do run into any annoyances, let the dealer resolve them for you.

I've had 4 MB's and they all are the same, 1 was a certified lemon, 3 where very close. Doesn't mean I don't love it, the MB loaners are great (20 since I bought the 2002 C230), the free car washes (with muffins and beverages), friendly service. Frankly without those things I would never buy any MB. Just rest assured that no matter how many problems you have, you will be in good company. If long term dependibility is a concern, consider an American made car, most of them are more reliable than any MB.

Now before you say/think it's me and not the cars, consider that my MB is one of 4 cars (Ford, Chevy and Honda), yet the MB outpaced all my other cars combined in visits to the dealer for warranty repairs.
