'71 Euro in Portland, OR. Based on the interior shots it sure looks it, but without the VIN (107043...), can't be certain. Love the fabric inserts.

99.9% sure it is a 107.043. '71 model year. No Fabric in US. Manual windows. Front turn signals are not US for early models. Headlights and bumpers. Chrome wheels an arches are added items.

KMPH speedo too. I can’t read it, but can see that there are more markings with 3 digits than 2. Combine the turn signals, speedo, and all that with the features unique to early cars (clock in center vent, chrome shifter gate) and there’s no doubt it’s an early euro car. Chances of it being a euro 4.5 are too slim, and I don’t think a 2.8 is even a possibility until 1974. So yeah, I agree it’s a 3.5.

I emailed the owner and asked a few questions. I haven't heard back. I mentioned he should register here and possibly show the car a little. Out of curiosity I'd like to know how early the car is; the last four digits of the VIN.

The 4.5 cars stopped the chrome shifter plate in the first ~2300 cars or so I think. They probably built about the same or maybe a few more 3.5 before making that change on 3.5 too. So that 1971 should probably be in the first ~3000 cars I bet.

Some people are weird about sharing the VIN online though.

On my drive to Pensacola, FL for an event last Friday I stopped for fuel in a small south Alabama town. While I was waiting in the car for the Countess to return from the public conveniences, I was approached by a gentleman who complimented me on my car and then advised me that his father had a 1978 450SL for sale for $6000. He didn’t provide further details except to say that hard and soft tops were included.

The seller “Lenell” can be contacted at Area Code 251 327 5407. This number is in the Mobile, Alabama area.
