I think it was a red 280 SL with over 100,000 miles on the odometer and a black interior. I think it otherwise looked pretty good but the black interior is a deal killerAt least in the summertime. $15,000 asking was the price. The radiator support had clearly been painted as there was a bad tape job around the hood latch mechanism. Dictating this while multitasking. Please excuse errors.

It was a 1985 Red 280 SL with 114k showing.
I just spoke the the guy today. He actually called me back, even though it had been sold.
Somebody who looked of over pretty good paid 14k for it. I'm not sure it's a reseller because you can't get much more out of it, can you?

So posting here, sorry for creating the other thread. This Mecum car could go for cheap.

Here is one that I see is coming up at Mecum with no reserve in Kansas City in December. I would really like a 72 or 73 for the bumpers, but cars at Mecum are about opposite of BAT. They go for no money. This one is no reserve.

75, 56K miles shown, from an estate sale

Why does this 72 have no headrests, because when they recovered them they just deleted them?

I agree @PanzerPuff that it sold cheap, and yes - pics don't help or do the car the justice it deserves. Maybe January isn't best time to be selling a convertible classic either? Who knows, but someone got lucky :D

How much is it really worth?

1981 Mercedes 380SL - $2500
1981 Mercedes 380SL. Hard top included.
Will not start-not sure why. Inherited as part of an estate.

You could probably pick it up for 2k. If chromes etc are in good nick than might be a good donor car.

It’s pretty rare that I say a $2500 r107 is drastically overpriced, but the seats tell me the story of a $300 car.

Those look like two nice R107s - too nice to just part out.

Carl, yes agree based on the seats alone the 1981 looks too nice. But no pics of the underside or engine leave us with lots of questions. Why is this a salvage title?
The 1977 is a much better deal at $5600 ask. I would offer $4900 and settle at $5K even. Not sure if the mileage is accurate so I would look for other clues, but if so it could even be a profitable flip.

Definitely concur, that 1977 450SL definitely looks to be the better car.
If no rust, actually looks as good or better than pictures, mileage accurate, and runs and drives OK ... if I were looking for a 450SL I would definitely wanta make an offer.
