I know a lot of people have been complaining about the changes to this site.
At first I didn't care for it but it has grown on me. But the best part is the performance, it's much better than any other car forum I've used. :D
I'll take speed over the other stuff every time. Replying is much easier, too

Also, nearly every regular poster is gone. It feels like a new site. It is nice to see Ynot and etyu on this post. Makes it feel like home. But this is the exception lately rather than the rule. Everyone must have bolted for a reason.

I'm still here :)

Don't know if you consider me a regular poster, but I have been following and participating in the forum for a while now.

Hey, look! They changed the layout of the messages. Now we get much better performance from the web site and the messages have a similar look and feel to how it was before.

I missed not see where people were from and how many posts they had done. That all seems to be back now.

Hopefully, anyone who may have bolted will now be happy to com back. The only one that I saw that was really unhappy and really bolted was reallife. But perhaps he will come back.

Looks good to me. No problems.

Beleriand, thank you for the kind words. I've "seen" Julien and some old names at another site. I usually have go to both sites, side by side.

The problem with the new look is that there's absolutely no spacing above, or below the words once they're inside the boxes...

If Franck would go ahead and add 3-5 pixel spaces to space out the dialogue boxes and maybe reduce the font size on the less important words (i.e. the main forum page where you see the writing for all the models of cars), it would make it less strenuous to read.

I haven't been around much due to my work, but I don't feel like staying around either when it begins to make my eyes so tired trying to concentrate on which portion of the page I'm reading.

I was just thinking how this forum is quite fast loading a second after i clicked my bookmark of it. Spooky to see a post on the very same subject as i log on!

The thread display has changed for the better now since the original site launch, now much easier to read.

It isn't that I completely abandoned Benzworld. I was working hard and didn't have any free time for a few days. I decided to let Benzworld try to get their format back in shape before spending time here. After the switch, Benzworld just became too difficult for me to read without severe eye strain. The site password changing all the time also became problematic. Now that the site is back to a two column format where the text isn't spread across the entire width it is easier to read. I would prefer the text to be a slightly larger font than the other less important info that clutters up each post. I think the MBworld site is the easiest for me to read. Check it out and you will agree. The content has always lagged so I never spent much time on MBWorld.

Of all the sites I am aware of Benzworld has always been the most informative. It is just a shame that the switch over wasn't handled better. The new server should have been seemlessly integrated into operation. Now I have discovered other options to dilute my limited on-line forum time. Time to go for a drive!!:D

I miss being able to glance over under the post's avatar and see which Model cars they have.
Me too. I pm'ed Frank and suggested adding that back in. The information is still in the system. You can get to it by clicking on the user and then going to the public profile. But that would be a nuisance to do all the time.

Hence my pm to Frank.

Getting better but still things to fix

It is a bit more readable now now that the profile info is in its proper place. Enough so that I will probably hang around now. A few more tweaks would make it better:

- Add the small space around the text in the box as shinigami suggested

- when you click on a post it should take you straight to the last unread or the last reply if no unread - paging through replies is a major pain

- Add the car info with the avatar. I really miss this too

And thats about it. I can live with the rests of the problems.
