Formula One stars to team up for Le Mans assault
BMW Sauber test driver Christian Klien is to join Honda tester Alex Wurz and race for Peugeot at this year’s Le Mans 24-hour race. Wurz and Klien will team up with the French manufacturer's existing Le Mans line-up, which includes Marc Gene, Nicolas Minassian, Pedro Lamy and Stephane Sarrazin, for the annual endurance event, which is to take place in June.

With Peugeot planning to enter three cars in the race, 1997 world champion Jacques Villeneuve and former Formula One drivers Franck Montagny and Ricardo Zonta will also join the team for the famous event. The individual crews for each car will be announced in May.

Twenty-five year old Klien, who only recently moved to BMW Sauber from Honda, is the youngest of all nine drivers in the Peugeot line-up. He secured his seat for the event after testing in France earlier this week.

“I’m very happy to be part of the Peugeot Sport team for the Le Mans 24 Hours, and having driven the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP at Paul Ricard this week I can see we have a very strong package and look forward to helping the team to achieve its goals,” said the Austrian. “This is my first experience of driving a sports prototype and to have the chance to be in a really competitive car at the most famous sports car race in the world is wonderful opportunity.”

Wurz, meanwhile, is no stranger to Le Mans. In 1996 he became the event's youngest winner after taking victory with Joest-Porsche. This year, the 76th Le Mans 24-hour race takes place on 15-16 June around the streets of the French town
