Hi! I have changed the filter, and it is not that difficult. Unfortunately, it seems that the screws and plastics are difficult to align perfectly afterwards, and my glove box hangs a bit. I know that I found an online description with photos how to do it.

its easy and self explanatory as you go (if you're a lil mechanically inclined)

1. remove the fusebox cover on the side
2. using a torx screw driver, remove 3 torx screws on top(near the cd changer)
3. remove 3 torx screws on the bottom(where the footwell light is)
4. remove 1 torx screw near the fusebox.
5. remove the glove compartment lamp socket
6. voila!!!! you can now move the glovebox away and change your filters.

Is this conceptually the same/similar cabin filter that was relatively easy to change on the W163's via an access slot under the glovebox in the passenger footwell, or am I misunderstanding?

I am on travel and do not have access to my computer but do a search on my posts. You will find I have linked a couple of previous treads to a pictoral page showing how to do the air filter change. If I remember correctly it is a Bosch page but I could be wrong. Have not done mine yet but it is coming up in a few thousand miles. The way my wife drives the car that will be in a couple of weeks!!!

Did the glove box go back on straight after the installation?
