I am looking for a good home for my mom's old 280E. I have had it for about 5 years, drove it for 4, and have had it parked in my driveway for the last year (sorry, mom). She bought it 10 years ago from friends in CA who were the first owners. They had it shipped over from Stuttgard, it's got the maintenance book with german oil change stickers, etc. from the first 60K KM or so.
This '79 is a 4-cylinder 5 speed, unlike the US/Canada 6-cylinder model. I don't know a lot about it otherwise. It is currently not running, I got stuck on a possible carburator/fuel issue and time got away from me. The odometer reads 139K, but I believe it had a time where it didn't work (probably closer to 150). I just don't have the time, money, and room for this keeper, I wish I did.
The car is here in SW Virginia and would most likely have to be towed. I don't know a fair price for it so I am open to offers. I just want to find someone who will give this care the love it deserves.
This is my first post (on any forum) so I will have to figure out how to add a picture.

BW members can help you decode the VIN. Can you post it? Hopefully it will work in the VIN decode site.
Your listing reads 280E buy you typed 4-cylinder and carburator... could it be a 230 instead? (A 280E would be a 6-cyl with fuel injection)
Post more pics (exterior/interior) including engine please.

The VIN # (Fahrgestell-Nr.) is WDB123023 10 188900 5. Here are some more pics. Thanks for your help.

The manual (Bedienungsanleitung) is for the 200, 230, 230C, and 250 models, but the back of the car says 280E. Not sure why.

Dash cracks and rust, it's worth about $1000. Kinda cool for our shores, but not in the best of condition.

Ya the car is a Mercedes-Benz 230. There is no "E" in the name because it doesn't have fuel injection, its carbureted. The badge on the back has been replaced with one from a 280E.

... and curiously, the options listed revealed that it originally came without a designation. Someone replaced it and couldn't find a 230 badge in the states is my guess...

Perhaps it was overbadged, like people do with the S classes? Just a thought. Wish I could snatch it up.
