My 97 e200 has developed a bad cough on take off..gutless ,and wont rev over about 5 thou like its got a rev limiter,i got a new maf but its still the same...Do i need to unplug battery for half hour..?Does anyone have any suggestions???

You can't rev it in neutral, in neutral the rev limiter will kick in, you have to be in gear and out on the road.

Do a board search, do a "soft" reset, then go for a drive and haul ass.
