I noticed several months ago on the CLK Class page at MBUSA.com that Firemist Red had been replaced by "Storm Red." Since the color representation is not that good, it was hard to gauge how different from Firemist Red the new color is. A short while back ianx reported that there will be a new metallic red next model year. Today was the first day that I was able to access the 2007 SL Class page at MBUSA.com. In place of Firemist Red, it also lists Storm Red. I imagine that Storm Red will be the new color for the '07 SLK Class. I will pick up my '06 SLK 350 next week. It will be one of the last of the Firemist Red SLK's, I guess. I am glad that they continued Firemist Red for the '06 model year, as I am pleased with it on my SL 500, and I wanted its kid brother to look as much like it as possible. Planned obsolescence, that's me![:D]Dinoman

It is hard to tell by the small pics what Storm will look like but it looks to have a less clay type color and is a richer red. If so I wish MB had made the change in 06.[B)]

Julien, It's funny how some manufacturers periodically alter their colors, particularly metallics, in a very subtle fashion. The fellow who does any paint work that I need once showed me about ten different paint codes for Ferrari Rosso Corsa (Racing Red), with subtle differences that only a PPG color "designer" could detect without squinting. MB has had Astral Silver, Brilliant Silver, now Iridium Silver, and I'm sure many other similar shades in the past. At the end of the day, they strive for some sort of continuity, and sometimes they improve upon the old, sometimes not. In any case, from pictures you have posted of your SLK 55, I wouldn't be too worried about the new shade of metallic red![;)]

Duo-Art, I have devised a way to keep my '06 SLK current, color-wise. After I pick it up next week, I will have the roof two-toned in Storm Red. That way, I will have a one-off Misty Firestorm Metallic SLK!!![;)]Dinoman
