I got outbid on ebay 4 days ago for a set of wheels in virginia, I bid 149.00 w/ 14 seconds left and the winner bid 149.99 w/ 3 seconds left, Damn Bid-sniper.com

But today at the junkyard I got 3 w126 7x15 et25 wheels w/ michelin energy 205/70-r15 tires w/ decent tread on them and 15 of those funky lug nuts.

*****still looking for a 4th rim #126 15x7 ET25******

I ended up buying 3 wheels and the best 2 of the tires, the 4th wheel was missing from the car.

costs...
wheels $30ea-$20. ea +10 core-b/c they're aluminum
Tire $10 ea.

Cost so far, 126.00 including tax, I expect it will cost approx $200 for this upgrade.

pics tomorrow when I put them on the rear.

Cheers,
Robert

heres some pics... the wheel & tire (fronts only, still need 1 more rim)

and heres how close it comes to the tie rod end, little less than half inch,

heres a little lug bolt survey... from the top...
w123 steel wheel
w123 alloy wheel
190d? alloy wheel (I don't know or care what series this is)
w126 alloy wheel ET25 w/ collar

I used the bottom ones of course, although the lower lug portion is a little longer than the corresponding stocker w123 alloy lug. They fit fine, no rubbing and increased responsiveness was noted on the EXTENSIVE test drive.

cheers,
RObert

Glad to hear they fit. I saw a set of those on ebay a few days ago but when I checked your post, it was a different size. [:(] I would have told you about it.

By the way, the 190E is a W201 chassis.[:)]

And that lug bolt comparison is good info! How is the ride any different?

By the way, I saw a W201 with 14inch Bundt Pan style wheels a few months ago (Bundts are like mine--see my sig). They were OK, but it just caught my attention. Their original wheels look better of course, as the Bundts seem to be for rounder Benzes like the W116 and W123 or any other earlier model.

I swapped those 15" rims for 5 of the stock 14" with tires and $125 to Kamil in New Jersey. I know he still has them because I've been getting doors, fenders and trunk lid from the donor car. Try him at:

He still had some steel rims for the junker to go to the yard after we snatch out the motor in the spring.

Thanks for the replies, I wonder if kamil is as cheap as I hope they are...

I think it rides a bit better because the new tires are .7 inches taller and .4 inches wider than the originals, also a little heavier.

I'm prolly gonna paint these black, so I'm not too worried about the brake dust. [:D]

PS MBZ part number I'm looking for is 1264003002
