So I finally purchased a 78 450Sl. I have had my old diesels prior. It is in good condition with 120K. The owner said that he has driven it 400 miles in the last three years. Planning on changing fluids and filters. I'll check vacuum lines and hoses too. Anything else that I should be doing that the car would appreciate? Thanks for the help!

Run a can or 2 of Seafoam through it. Sounds like the injectors will thank you.

Oh and check your subframe lower control arm mounts to see if they have been reinforced.

Welcome to the R107 club 👍 you may want to inspect break lines before you take her out for a spirited drive. Otherwise, as Chief suggested between the lines - the list of things not to check is much shorter than the list of things to check 😅

Don't start the engine again until you have checked all of the fuel hoses in the engine bay to make sure they are not rotten and checked the timing chain and guides.
