I have changed the shocks today after it has been quite noisy in the past 4 month on the rear.

HUGE difference!!!

The car cannot be more quiet on a bumpy road, I have used Belstein heavy duty shocks as a replacement. I thought maybe if someone here has a similar issue they could do the same :)

How many miles were on the shocks you replaced?

Thanks - good data point. Had some 210 chassis owners say that there was no change in the ride when changing shocks at 100,000 miles, so I'm waiting until 150,000 for that one. SLK after ten or twelve years and 100,000 miles may be due though - different kind of a ride.

My '99 230 is at 156k plus miles and still on its original shocks. I plan to change out the shocks (already bought the fronts -KYB's) and once I get the rears bought I will change out both. I guess after 11/12 yrs it is time to start replacing stuff on the car if you expect it to maintain its edge (it is my daily driver so it gets put through its paces every day and it has served me well over the years).

Did mine at about 80k miles - just a bit of crashing over bumps - best $300 I ever spent.

KYBs - now 4 yrs old and going great

Very easy - just jack up on stands as high as you can and unbolt at top and bottom.

Important - when re fitting, hold spindle so that it does not turn with nut when tightening.
