I have an '08 GL320 CDI. Though it does not have the button for the ignition, I was led to believe that the MB vehicles that offered Keyless Go would have the button on the exterior door handle, which mine does, but doesn't seem to do anything. It also does not push to start. I'm trying to figure out if the Keyless Go is inoperative or if it just isn't installed.

Hello. The quickest way to find out is by calling your MB dealership and inquire at the parts department. Tell them that you lost your ignition button and you need a replacement. At that point, they will ask you for your VIN or last 8 of the VIN and they will be able to tell you the full breakdown of the vehicle and options that are associated with that VIN. GL.

With the car locked, point the end of the key fob at the black square from a few inches away, and hold down the unlock button for twenty seconds. If all of the windows roll down, that black square is for the IR (Infrared) lock/unlock signal, and is not part of the Keyless-Go system.
