CD-Rs should work without problem in the OEM changer. The question is more on the quality of the CD-R media and your burning setup. I used to use TDK media to burn my CDs, and they would skip all the time, and often not play at all in older CD players. I switched to some very inexpensive PRINCO media a couple of years ago, and have had no problems whatsoever. Really it's a matter of experimenting... if it ain't working, try something else

"Burned" CDs

Could a "burned" cd damage a CD unit? When my car was in the shop for CD/phone problems, they noted on the service order that there was a "burned" cd in the unit and those are not compatible with MB equipment. Or are they just covering their butts. They didn't say anything to me, but when I went over the service record, I noticed it printed at the bottom. They worked great, but now I'm afraid to play them.
