Okay, I've never usded the cruise control and it's all in German on mine anyway but according to the 500sel manual I have you just push the switch up to set and towards the dash to turn off. Holding it up or down will set it and a faster or slower speed and if you want to resume after canceling you pull it towards you. I'd try it on a rather deserted road if possible.
As for the fog lights with the switch in position 1 or 2 (headlights on) just pull the knob out 1 or 2 clicks, depends on the car.
