1978 240D sedan, blue, 4-cyl, manual (parting) and 1990 300TE 4matic wagon, automatic, with A/C

I just bought (about 4 weeks ago now) a 1978 Mercedes 240D sedan in Victoria, BC, Canada, and now... I've found the wagon I've been looking for (sort of: I want a W123 but got a W124). The sedan is a good daily driver but it has little problems and too much body rust to ever fully rehabilitate. I got it to drive and not worry about, and to pull my sailboat, which I haven't done yet. And I have an idea to put the diesel engine in my Landrover someday. But, maybe I should part it. Does anyone have opinions on whether it's worth it for this model?

I put on new front brakes (rotors, calipers, pads, pad wear sensors, yada yada) less than 50 miles ago... bought a trailer hitch on this forum (a Drawtite from Ali)... and got a new hood release pull for the grille area... and the rest has been good so far, functionally.

It has a beautiful interior, but driver's window does not roll down (manual). It has perfect door panels. I don't know if the backseat has ever been used. It doesn't look like it. It has a sagging driver's seat, darn it. It has a sunroof! It has beautiful gauges and a PERFECT (not kidding, looks like new) dash. The car looks new inside, except that seat does sag when you sit on it..

Although I use it every day, tomorrow I'm switching to the wagon, and while a great runner, this car will never be good looking again, or rust free. So as a vehicle, it's maybe not worth owning. I bought it to pull boat, steal engine someday for Rover, and what else? Tremendous mileage this thing gets, holy.

It's a 4-cyl diesel w/ 4-speed manual with that beautiful wood shift knob. Good glass throughout. Biscuit coloured interior, sort of? Vinyl seats with pinhole type venting, every button, thing, switch thing works.

Is it worth parting? I will start on it if it adds up. I've parted three cars this year, so quite familiar with that, but is it worth it for this kind of car?

Not worth the effort.
