Makes no sense. The production is really dwindeling down. When i picked up my 05 last week (still waiting delivery)...there were only five that were being shipped to the US. I heard that import is going to stop officially in march. I guess they want to squeeze an extra thousand out of the customer.

Overall, this is BS cause MB said that one of the reasons that they got rid of free maintainance is cause they were not going to have a price increase for 05'

MBUSA is very quickly shooting themselved in the foot. It's too bad because my experience in Germany and the rest of Europe has been great.
(I can't believe that I am going to make this association, but) Mercedes through Europe is like Ford here in the States. Ford has unsurpassed service and will bend over backwords for you. Good luck with MBUSA.
The only thing that Mercedes does very well is... Detail your car. Even that is for alot of money.

MBUSA website has quoted the 2005 G500 at $78,420, and the G55K at $100,620 since they updated them from the 2004 models and prices.

Maybe your dealer is just updating his price?

I read those PR's every month too. Have you seen the sales figures for the G in 2004. The biggest percentage drop of any of their classes ... Ouch!!!

Notice that the ones made in the U.S. are not going up in price (no currency differential).

The prices on the website have been the ones I posted above since I posted about them last October. I'll refresh that post so you can see ...

I have no idea how you copied that link from PR Newswire. All I ever get is the general site, so I had to cut and paste the year results:

I have the 2005 G55k and it is amazingly different then the 2004 G55. I paid 99,000. If it was more than the 04 model, then it would have been worth it because it drives far better than the 04. Far more power, better handling (1 inch lower) looser suspension but not as loose as G500. Just a great car. I would have paid 101 with no problem if I needed.

MB sure had a crappy sales month in January. Sales of the G were down 24.7% in the year 2004 over 2003, and now down 41.3% in January 2005 over the already low sales from January 2004. The PR mentioned the new M & R's coming this year, but no mention of the new G.

I wish they would sell more, because that would give me more options in the pre-owned market. I figure the good news is selling fewer is better for current owners in their resale, but has to add to the expense for parts and "qualified" labor.

I can't post the link ... so cutting and pasting the numbers:

03-g500,

When you are right, you are right [:I]

The price did go up Feb 1. The prices you listed didn't have the $720 transportation charge, so add that in and the prices are now G500 $79,620 & G55K $102,120.
