I know....2012 isn't over.

But, it will be hard for me to personally match this moment this year.

Hot, sunny day.

Having spent 1000 kms driving on gravel roads, Mrelbe, TopNob and myself hit 100kms of brand new paved road outside of Labrador City.

Picture a straight, 2 laner, through the woods.

Now picture 2 paved road hungry drivers in top down Benzes.

100 mph for 20 minutes.

Fantastic.

Ok, Nobby. Here is my contribution. First week of June, along the Million Dollar Highway in Colorado. The best part is that I had Natalie and my 3 youngest with me.

Hmm, tough to pick a single moment but the 2 hour run back from Rhinebeck earlier in the spring was fun, we followed a green Pagoda also from CT and broke a speed limit or two (but not any stretches at 100 MPH...).

Next to a Masarati Merak at a light the other day and the guy said that is a real clean SL, which was kind of cool..

One thing I really love about this car though, is that both my wife and son enjoy using it as well. We have used it just about every dry weekend since January. Tough to pick out a favorite time!

Easy! Two nights ago my 16 y/o daughter drove the MB for the first time. Huge smile and "oh wow!" Over and over for 20 miles.

Ever since I was a boy driving has been my #1 hobby. Dosen't matter what, where, how fast or with who, as a matter of fact I prefer alone to think, or forget as the case might be. Anyway, last year (ok not 2012), when I got home from the hospital, after the nurses, friends and kin left, I got in the 84 , TD of course, and went for my ride. Priceless !!

From the title, I assumed it was going to be another thread about the benefits of a small steering wheel.

Then I saw the names "mrelbe" and "topnob".

Pretty much every evening we take a hour or so drive in the Columbia River Gorge scenic area. Beyond amazing, both the Benz and the scenery. Sure going to be sad when the rains return on about Halloween :crybaby2:

I would have expected it to be that moment when you were pulling into the drive at home after the Palooza. :D

You bring up a valid point.

It was a happy moment after a long, hard trip.

It seems that something some of the greatest rides have in common is a "thank God I am able to be doing this right now!" moment.
- nobby back on paved roads with the pig still trucking along after a hard battle
- Pete after the hospital
- anyone glad their 107 is still driving and not on the back of a truck.

That appreciation for the things we take for granted is what seems to make a great drive. For me I have to say it is a toss up between two drives so far this year:

- a drive where I was alone on some curvy back roads that I have driven my whole life and thankfully the areas have still not been developed. So I can still take my car back on those roads as fast as whatever I am driving can handle. The spring weather was much nicer than expected and what I thought was going to be a top-up ride became an awesome top down ride. The downside was not having anyone to share it with me, so I tried to record author video while driving and posted it here in the forum.

- today, after basically breaking down in the new-to-me 026 after driving it for only about 30 miles just a few days ago, I confidently drove the car home with my son sleeping comfortably in the back seat, looking more comfortable than he does in his mom's car or my truck. knowing that I made the right decision on this car that can seat three in the back is priceless.

- Now if I can just get that third seat belt installed and squeeze in the baby bucket and two five point boosters, then I will hopefully take the whole family for ice cream / milkshakes in a convertible again. Then, maybe I can take the family down those curvy roads and get the new of both worlds, posting here again this year.

Lots of time, Fonz.

Just get the baby bucket in right.

I look forward to taking my granddaughter for a spin once she gets into a booster seat.

I've been delivering and picking up my daughter's in the Benz all summer long....I love it and they love it.

Sigh. Kids grow up so fast.

Just excitement and procrastination. Sore throat, so no action in the sack and too excited to sleep. Thanks for the reminder though. I do have to get to bed. Time to chug a beer to put me to sleep.

Oh... My wife calls the baby car seat a "bucket". I guess I might have been putting this vision in your minds.

I meant baby-car-seat. :)

Cute, must take after the misses.
Oh that is just an Internet picture, not my kid. I try to remain anonymous on here. Embarrassed about how much I post, really. Then I figure my family might not appreciate me posting pics.
