Hello,

I am new on this board. I have had some weird "fatal errors" on the computer display in the car . The messages say "BAS & EPS" to take the car into the workshop. Well, i did and found out that i need a special chip to update my computer. So if anyone has this problem it's because you need to update the computer system. The year of my car is a 2002 C240.

ESP-BAS

I have the same problem in a european 2002 C220 CDI and I think that it's a bad connection in sensor wires. ¿It's possible?

My vehicle had the same problem. The dealer replaced the wiring harness to the engine control unit. The BAS/ESP errors disappeared.

No, it's not a special chip...

What they do is either to change the BAS/ESP module, or to update the module's software itself. [:)]

Yes, this problem is quite common to the pre-'02 C-classes. Nothing to be worried about though as it doesn't cause anything to stop functioning permanently.
