Have a 1990 190e 2.6.
Trying to remove the bolt that holds the fan clutch on, but having problems.
The whole fan clutch and pulley is spinning when i try to loosen the bolt.
The whole pulley seems to be wiggling so I would asume that the fan clutch bearings are shot?

There is a special tool that looks like a big piece of wire, it goes in behind the pulley to lock it in place.... no jamming of screwdrivers is required.

Yup what he said. I changed mine twice within 6 months. Damn thing keeps dying in Las Vegas heat. I think it died again but Im tired of paying for labor to take it on and off. I installed something called a Cool harness which plugs into the CTS or coolant temp sensor and turns on the electric fans at 92 degrees instead of 110 degrees and keeps the car from overheating or getting close to it. It has helped me so far maintain a cooler running engine. Flushed radiator and added MB coolant with Royal Purple Purple Ice additive and the car stays under 80 C on the temp gauge where it normally runs in the 90s to 110sC
