Hey all,
I own an 86 300e and i am replacing the fan clutch in order to help it run less hot. however the fan clutch keeps spinning when twisting with the hex wrench and i cant figure out how to keep it from spinning.

Any help is deeply appreciated!

Yeah, how about that...
You need to fabricate a tool to keep the fan pulley from rotating. There's a groove in the fan bearing mount

and the tool lays in the groove and also a hole in the fan pulley flange. You have to turn the fan pulley to get the hole to line up with the groove.
I made my own tool out of a very large nail that I bent.
After that an 8mm Allen wrench and some muscle will get the bolt loose.
Prepare to lose some knuckle flesh on radiator fins.
