Hello to all, this car belongs to a friend. He call me yesterday and told me that the car won't start, and the car loose all the coolant as well. Anyway he end up towing the car to me. When looking at the car, 3 of the fan blades are gone, shroud Fan is broke in 3 places and radiator has a hole in the lower central area. I want to share with you all, to see if some feedback. Thank you in advance. 1986 Mercedes Benz 560 SEC.

You obviously have to replace the fan blade and radiator. Seems to me that the motor mounts collapsed and caused the damage. Check the motor mounts and while at it, check that the water pump is rotating smoothly.

Motor mounts collapsed! I was just looking at mine thinking I want to replace them. Looks like they just bumped the priority list.

One of the final signs of MM demise, is that the fan is close to the bottom of the fan shroud, or is hitting it. This is easy to see. MM are in sight too but sometimes just looking can fool you that they're fine.
