I have tried finding relevant posts. My car has the faded b pillar problem and i was wondering if there is any way to remove the faded pieces and then paint them. The other back trim piece between the back window and the back quarter window is discolored as well. anybody know if/how i can remove these pieces:confused:

I remember seeing a post on this not too long ago. Someone bought replacements on eBay and swapped it for the old ones. The fitment was not perfect.

Personally, I would take it to a plating specialist and have them replate them. Mine are beginning to fade too....but not enough for me to want to do it yet.

what color do you want to paint them? mine are painted to match the body also the rear windshield trim is painted black but anywhere that has the purplish trim mine is painted black. it looks nice imo i need to redo it.

black, like the car. i feel like it would go better with the tint and such and i remember your car looked good with the black pillars.

That's not the same thing... this is slapping chrome covers onto the old pillars.

To OP: I recommend getting them refinished, they can easily be repainted.
Yes, I understanding it's not the same thing. If you have been following my post...you would have seen that I had two stream of thought on this...the first being a replacement option and the second is a refinish/replate option. And I agree with you, I personally would lean towards a refinish... preferably a place that does electroplating. Anyone can paint over them, but the durability will be horrible.

I use to ride an Yamaha RD 350 LC. The exhaust pipes were tapered and electroplated gloss black. I wanted them flat black, so I sanded them down to bare metal, undercoated the metal, and painted them flat black (high heat paint). They looked cool but required yearly maintenance...should have electroplated them flat black.

These pieces are a special metal, abusmith or something like that, designed to trim the car where someone might touch it to close the door.

Price out replacement parts and decide if you want to go that route.

Painting them? I'm not sure you'll like the result.

How much are these from the dealer? Anyone price them?
