OK, that might be a bit of a stretch. In 2015, while at the Factory in Worth, looking at a U5023 parked out front with my son, I heard a Unimog / diesel
sort of noise, and I turned around and saw some weird UNIMOG type thing. I managed to get three quick shots, and then it was gone. We actually saw a second one a little later, with a different structure on the back, but I could not get to the camera in time, as I was driving.
So, I don't think this is an earth-shattering scoop or anything close to it, merely an interesting Mule of some type rolling around the public streets surrounding the factory.
What I think I see :
A. Definitely a UNIMOG chassis - it has portal axles, which were more evident to the naked eye than in the photos perhaps, but you can still tell.
B. The Cab is pushed back, and the UNIMOG has a snout, implying that the engine takes up more room than the normal Engine fitment.
C. The Cab is a "Zetros" cab, more or less, and it shows the additional width of the Zetros cab with the overlap of the front fenders, and the extra width of the cab, compared to the aluminum UNIMOG bed.
D. I put Zetros in quotes, because, as you can see, the wheel arches under the (Original UNIMOG pattern) doors are plugged, which makes this more of a KAMAZ
cab than anything else. What ? Yes, the following photos will illustrate that.
E. Just for the fun of it, I ran some reference lines down the door seam on the A pillar of various examples , just to see where they landed vs the centerline of the Front axle....
OK, now to see if I can remember how to post photos.
OH, and the Time / Date on the camera is FUBAR. It was 2015, and while it may have been 2:30, it certainly was not AM.
