Hey folks,

I've been looking to replace my manual mirrors on my 1979 450SL, and I came across a couple of variations that I can't reconcile - which is where you folks come in.

My car is a 1979 RHD, the LEFT mirror has a seal # 107 811 05 61 and the RIGHT mirror has a seal # 107 811 04 61. The mirrors I came across online have seals LEFT # 107 811 03 61 & RIGHT # 107 811 06 61. I had a look in Xentry and it only outlines # 0361 as LEFT for LHD vehicle, and #0461 as RIGHT for RHD cars - s/shot below. Given this and my own parts I figure that #0561 is a LEFT cap for RHD and #0661 is a RIGHT cap for LHD - a bit of a mess if you ask me.

Question to those more versed than I am: while mirrors and seals look like they're identical, do you know if there are any differences between LHD and RHD versions? In other words, I'm looking for confidence if I can simply replace the mirrors regardless of their seal numbers / LHD vs RHD variations -> all mirrors are mounted with 3 screws, all are manual, chrome shells looks the same, but I imagine there's some other differences that drive part number variants? Thoughts appreciated.

My RHD 380SL has an electric mirror on the left (passenger) side so adjustment can be made by the driver. I've had both mirrors off and the manual driver side seal was torn and I had to repair it as the seals were NLA according to the local dealer.I recall they were both similar ( but reversed ofcourse) but I'll see if I can find a pic with a number on it.

Thanks Graeme, appreciated! I'm not concerned about seals per se, I'm just curious if they indicate some sort of show stopper between LHD and RHD variants...

@rowdie perhaps you have some words of wisdom for me? I'm reaching out to the seller and will ask for exact dimensions of each mirror, but wouldn't want to miss anything fundamental and get caught with my pants down, or mirrors upside down :D

That's what I think, but I'm curious why would they create seperate part numbers for LHD and RHD variants. My own mirrors seem like mirror images of each other.
