There is a single screw behind the door rubber just inside the lip of the door. Pull the door rubber away. remove the screw and the lock part of the door handle will pull out. Then pull the door handle like you would open the door and slide it towards the rear of the car. There is nothing holding the door handle in the car except the wire that connects to a clip and the wiring harness of the door.

How do I know this? I have the same problem with my keyless go. The push button on the trunk works fine but both door handles died. MB cost to replace - $800. I know the procedure as the MB tech took the time to explain it to me after I said I was going to fix it myself. The handles are available on parts.com for $300 - driver door and $200 pass door. Not sure if I care to fix this as the remote locks it more conveniently. The rest of the keyless go works fine.

Let me know if you were able to fix it.

I don't remember having that problem, are you certain you have located the correct screw, best i can recall you remove the aluminium panel and take care to peel back triangle shaped rubber at top of door edge, this rubber is bonded to the door but it will stay sticky for refitting, the screw should come out easily leaving the handle in place ready to be eased out from the outside, please don't hesitate to ask if more assistance needed
