Exterior Window Trim Peeling

31334 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  ArcticDweller
On all four doors, at the base of the glass there is a rubber trim piece; a sweep if you will. Just below the rubber sweep is a trim piece that has a nice gloss finish, but it's not paint. That plastic gloss finish is peeling on my driver door and rear passenger door. It looks HORRIBLE! Has anyone else had this issue? It's out of warranty. The dealer said the rear was ~$250 and the front was ~$230.

That's ridiculous.

In all honesty, it's began peeling very suddenly about a year ago, and now peels at a steady few millimeters per week.

What do you guys think? Any solutions?

Window trim on my 2019 GLC

Im having a similar problem with my new 2019 GLC. It has a chrome-like trim around the windows. After having the clear coat paint protectant applied, it has become discolored and looks almost scratched. The service manager (a complete ass) insisted its caused by acid rain and the weather! He also advised me Mercedes uses inferior products on their window trim and has heard many complaints from customers. He did mention the black trim peeling and stated Mercedes won't do anything about it. Is this really a common problem?
