Historically, and for my previously owned Mercedes-Benz (or BMW) vehicles I've always purchased manufacturer's extended warranty coverage, typically 2-yrs beyond the initial default factory 4-yr/50k term and/or the +1 CPO warranty.

That's basically my plan now; to purchase 2-more years on my SL550 from my selling Mercedes dealer - but I am also aware that there are a number of third-party extended warranty programs available that may equally provide the same levels of coverage (and covered items) as do the genuine MB extended warranty plans at a lesser cost.

Thus! I am interested to learn from Forum members that have used (and/or recommend 3rd party warranty programs) as to what their experience has been in terms of Mercedes-Benz extended warranties vs. 3rd Party plans.

If you've got some experience with 3rd party plans (coverage/performance/Mercedes Dealer acceptance
/issues, etc) , please share your knowledge.
