2002 E430, 57K miles, I'm getting a longer than normal crank if the car sits overnight. It will start and then run fine, no stalling, but it takes approx 4-5 seconds of cranking, versus the normal 1 second or less it used to. I replaced the CPS, but still have the problem. I also have a new MAF, fuel filter etc. Could it be the fuel pump on its way out? Thanks in advance.

Hi Jim, I had the exact same problem. No issues once it started the car ran fine and once in a while it would start like normal. Since the CPS doesn't always CODE the dealer kept my car for a few days and she was starting up without issue so it was frustrating. They didn't want to replace the CPS unless the ruled out other stuff. Finally on the 2nd day they had the car they were able to duplicate problem and is was my fuel pump that was on it's way out. Had it replaced and not cheap! Since I am a woman who doesn't DIY I pay for convenience. Could have had it done at indy but out of my way and I just wanted it fixed. This was my experience. Car had 72k miles when it was replaced. Hope this helps!

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking it may be. But I did the CPS on friday since it was a known problem and alot cheaper than a pump. I'm gonna try cycling the key to prime the pump and see if that does anything, that way if it does work, then that pretty much points to the pump.
