Express Up and Down

The other day i was playing with the key of my car and i was able to close all 4 windows and sunroof through the key without ever putting it in the key hole. Then again, i was able to open all windows and roof.

But since then, iam keep trying and its not working. Iam thinking there is some combination that i messed up. Does anyone know of the sequence?

Thanks

I saved this from a forum post, I think in MBWorld.com or possibly Mercedesshop.com. Anyw...

I saved this from a forum post, I think in MBWorld.com or possibly Mercedesshop.com. Anyway, here is what the poster said the sequence is:

On our 97 S500... when the car was locked, you press the button twice to open the trunk. When unlocked and the windows are down, you need to push the button to lock and hold it down... This should close the windows and sunroof etc. Then the next time you unlock your car, if you closed the windows with the key before this instance, if you hold the button while unlocking, the windows/sunroof should open back up to the previous position. This is what I recall... we don't have the car anymore, so I can't test it. But, I think it should work.
I have not tried this yet since I still have not found that perfect W140 so let me know if it works.

Thats exactly what i did Michael. It does work. But sometimes it dosent. I will wait and wait and wait, and nothing happens.

But thanks to let me know!
wow...

I feel like that guy from the Jetta commercial...

I knew that I could roll the windows up and down by putting the key in the hole and holding it left or right. I did not know that I could do it with the remote though. I have a 96 with the infrared remote that has to be aimed at the mirror. I think that it may not work if you misaim the clicker while holding it down.

I felt the same way. But it does work. You need to keep the key guided towards the sensor. Play around few times. Iam not sure if E-class has this feature or not.

It will work with yours, you must hold the key in the door barrel in the lock position for 3 seconds until all the windows are closed.

Does the key have to be in the door barrel, or can this be done from the remote as previously described by other people? I wish I could try it out, but I don't get the car for two weeks [:(]
I am sick and tired of trying to figure out this window b/s!

Supposedly, all w140s have this feature. But, you can only close the windows - not open them. Unless, you closed the windows with the remote! Strange! Anyway, in 98 the W140 came with the 3 button remote and according to my owners manual you can close/open all windows and sunroof. Nowhere, does it mention that you have to close the windows with the remote before you can open the windows with the remote! Kind of frustrating. And another thing. My manual states that if you put the key in the trunk tumbler and turn it left or right (can't remember) you could shut off the interior trunk lights if you plan to leave it open for a prolonged period - another feature that I can't seem to get to work!
