I would be very grateful if you petrol heads could give me the benfit od your experience in fitting 16 or 17ts to 190's and dropping them.

I know this question must get asked all the time so if you could direct me to some links instead, all good!

Please save me from graduating from the school of hard knocks, once again!

Basicallay I want to fit some 16 or 17's and drop it by 40 - 60 mm.

I am a competent mechanic, and happy to do a bit of arch work. BUT Am a complete newbie to OFFSETS, etc.

So what offsets can I use. IS dropping the car 60 mm ALOT of arch work? Is dropping the car 40 mm ANY archwork?

I noticed audi's have the same PCD (112mm), but what about the center hole size (can they get drilled out)? Will they fit as real cheap on EBAY!

Am I restriced to mercedes only wheels?

What wheel/tyre size should i be looking for???

Many Thanks!

wheels/tires sizes

im in the same situation as you, undecided as to what to put on your car.

i was told with 205or215/40/17 will not rubb unless you drive over the biggest speedbump in the world

many people are goin to that size it looks good there are many pics of that set-up on here

also check out www.cardomain.com, click on mercedes-benz, then 190 and the list of 190e's goes on and on with that set-up

Have you found anything out about OFFSETS?, As if I understand things the mercedes 190 is limited by wheel choice, because of the offset. But I dont know really!

so 205/40/17 for 7 x 17 or 215/40/17 for 7.5 x 17? Is that right?

Luke
yes you are right the 205 is for the 7.0 and the 215 is the 7.5...

there was somethin...

yes you are right the 205 is for the 7.0 and the 215 is the 7.5...

there was something said about a 35mm offset but i have no clue as to where it comes into play...

i was told if you have the 190e 2.3l 8v (without the fender-flares) you cant go with the 7.5's ...but if yours is the 2.3l 16v then you can go with the 7.0 or 7.5's with no rubbing

...also if you look at your car right now the rear sits a little lowwer than the front, when you go bigger the wheel-well will fill in some but the front might need to get lowered to hide the spring, thats what i was told anyway, jus have to see which set-up you like some people like the higher look some dont its all your opinion...

thats all i have for now post a reply for more questions...ya i tryed the webpage i told you about its not workin the sever is down for a little while....check it in like a week or 3 days or so

take it easy
