09 s550 65000 mile.
Just got this code. P2422.
I need some advice. It looks like it is attached to the charcoal canister under the right rear tire.
Part number 0014701393.

Is this the right part and do I have the location right. do I have to change out the charcoal canister as well.

Thanks for the help Screenshot_20190712-165026_Torque.jpg

Yes for sure. Honestly without the factory diagnostics it can be a lot more work.

Cleaned valve and reinstalled. I get the same thing. Checked continuity on valve. It rings out. Checked plug on car. Got a light(12 volts) valve will not open. Going to say it is bad.

Nope not bad. The ecu controls ground on this. I have removed the plug out and connected it to a 12v battery plugged it into the valve and it works.

So, could be;

- That you are giving it enough current to actuate it, but that current level is higher than what the EVAP system will give it and will then report it bad
- That you have broken the crusties in it loose and now it will work for another 65k miles
- That it is just outside its designed operating range enough that only a new (newer) unit will extinguish your error code

The P/N if you are looking to replace it is 0014701393 (from chassis 198322, 1/12/2007 onward.)

I checked the wiring going to the plug. It is not getting a ground. From what I have heard whatever controls the valve does it though the ground wire.

I actually cut the plug out. Tripped the wires and tested it with a multimeter.
