I am from the W126 forum, but I saw something yesterday that really made me happy. My uncle owns an 88 560SL, and its only got 68K miles on it. He has had it since 89, and I really liked the way it looked in great condition. It was worth 15,000 easy on KBB. Later, I was at Guitar Center and I came across a Eurp '84 500SL. It had sentras, 138K miles, and it was GORGEOUS. The Euro model looks amazing as far as the bumpers and lights go. I just thought I'd share some photos of the car I saw, sorry for the crappy phone pics. The one next to the W126 is my uncles car (hood was open). I think to myself.. My W126 is a 560SEL. If I had a 560SL, it would be sooo fast. It's got to be faster than almighty hell without the extra weight my car has.

I wish I had the money for one of these things.

Just FYI, a lot of euro 500SL's are actually 280's with a badge. Many have aftermarket spoilers as well. You can tell this by the way the trunk lid is balanced. If it's a factory spoiler, it will have stronger springs and be balanced correctly.

The 280SLs didn't have the spoiler, the 500SLs did.

Maybe they thought the 280 couldn't go fast enough to need a spoiler?

My point was that it's common to see both a bogus spoiler and badge on a 280.
