I was wondering if anybody has successfully completed a Euro mirror restoration. The outer chrome housings are in excellent condition for their age however in the inner portion of the mirror appears to be weathered.

Does anyone know the process used on the inner portion of the mirror? They appear to have been a semi-gloss black when new.

How difficult is it to disassemble the mirror? Should the inner portion be powder coated?

Your avatar looks like a US spec. '73 450SL. Really doesn't matter on the mirrors.
I have one off in the barn and will check it.

Correct Rowdie, no difference in mirrors from euro to US spec. Only difference is in production date (from smaller mirrors to larger mirrors) and LHD and RHD are also different.
