I installed the new headlights and clear corners yesterday. The install was not bad and I love the city lights. I had that setup in my old BMW but I had to piece the kit together...this was nice as everything was easily available.

So my question...the headlight pattern seems to be pointing at the ground about 10 feet out and I couldn't figure out with adjuster raises the lights.

Could the reflectors be loose and screwing up the pattern? There is a note to see if they came loose but they did not seem to be.

Any help would be appreciated. I will try to get some pictures this morning.

Removal was 4 screws for the old headlights, a little bit of wiring to get the new city lights hooked up and poking the wire barrels into the provided 6 prong plug. Pretty easy.

Still struggling with the aim....didn't think that was going to be an issue...did it on the '83 BMW with Euros and also the Audi V8 with new lights.

Arg...

I have been working on the aim for two nights now. The local police were very helpful in blocking my dark parking lot for a few minutes last night while I was under the hood. I was watching the pattern then all of a sudden light came from everywhere.

After five minutes they finally left after I told them the dealer did not seem to want to help aim so rather than blind other drivers, I would do it myself.

Mine were also pointed down. The inner most adjuster goes to the little city/fog light area. I must have turned it wrong because now, the right one is barely lit when I have nothing turned on for that particular bulb. Not sure what is happening. The others are just about right but since I am lowering the car this week, I figure I will wait for final adjustment.

Bruce, if you ordered the Katmac lights, the knob over the fog lamp controls its up and down, the knob next to it (in the middle) controls the main reflector up and down and the knob near the corners controls the main reflector left and right.

If you are still having problems, the main reflector may have come loose on one of its supports. The best way to check this is to remove the light and then pop the glass retainer clips off and remove the front glass. One of mine was shipped with the reflector knocked-off its support. I just popped it back in and it was good to go. Then re-assemble and re-align.

Hope that helps.[:)]

How tough is it to remove the old lights? I saw someone post how easy it was to install the Katmac lights but no mention as to how difficult removal of the old ones was?
Removal was super easy. In fact, install may be harder as you may have to alter the old lower mounts to accept the new lights.

I hope I don't have to alter anything. Mine is a gen1. I'm in school and my dad doesn't know anything about cars - so I'm trying to find easy projects to go one step at a time. Sometimes I get in way over my head thow.

Jammer was right...I popped the left headlight out and the reflector was loose. I removed the lens and put it back on. It then moved when I turned the knobs.

Now I have to wait for it to get dark!

I also have to get the paint for the trim pieces...

Here are some pics...Spring in Seattle.

em are the AT Italia from Tirerack ($99 ea) with 245/50-16s. I really like the look of the fatter tire and 16" was about all you could get in the mid 1990s. Also it helps with the ride.

You're telling me! But, like you said, I also like the 16". I think anything bigger is a little hard to find or too pricey.

Glad you got the light fixed, Bruce! BTW, sweet ride! You'll like the look of the "holeless" valences.

Excellent job, Bruce – the 560 looks great.

You’ve inspired me to get my 300 SE in order. She’ll get:

Euro lights
Euro turn indicators (I’ll find them somewhere…)
Black grill screen
Removed headlight wipers/new panels
16 rims – I have the set I just need new tires for them.
