Hi,
I have a Mercedes SL350 2006.
The ESP and Speedtronic warning - drive to workshop keep coming on.
Also none of the function buttons on the steering wheel are working including the horn.
The indicators will not work and the steering wheel will not move up and down.
It would be great if anyone had any idea what could be causing the fault.
Thank you in advance.

Jiggle the key in the ignition, or tap it. Do the lights go off, and do the subsystems start working?

I used to have a similar problem on mine, the seat belts would click rapidly, the roll bar light would come on, seat warmers wouldn't work, the steering wheel adjustment wouldn't work, and the command radio would cut out.

If I tapped on the key a few times, it would start working OK, until the next time I started the car. It turned out that the ignition switch (EIS) was at fault. My mechanic chose to disassemble it and clean all the contacts, and it's been working fine ever since (2+ years).
