I wrote on this some time ago, but now can't find the thread/posts. What's involved in putting a 617 from a '77 300D auto into a '76 300D auto? Is it a reasonable project or much involved with some problems to solve? Thanks.

A 76 300D is a W115. The chassis is too narrow, so the oil filter housing has to be relocated. I *think* that's the only difference, but I'm not familiar with engine swaps.

Your old thread is from an '81 300D, is that the same one you wanted to reference?

Well, the '76 300D has already been sold. Man, you've got to move fast on some of this stuff.

The '76 300D auto actually has NOT sold. The engine I'm asking about swapping would be from my '77 300D auto into the '76. Anyone have an idea?
