hi,

Sometimes, when I floor it, and I go a little higher in rpm as usual, the engine shakes and hesitates during acceleration. It seems like the engine doesn't get enough fuel.
Also: when I push in the clutch, the engine will rev sometimes very high... about 4000 rpm, without touching the gas. When it's not revving like this, the rpm always goes up and down when stationary.

Does anyone have any clue what this is all about?

Could it be the Fuel filters? Fuelpump? Gasvalve? injectors? Sparkplugs?

this is quite annoying.

thx for any suggestions.

oh... the car is a '91 190E 1.8 manual.

greetz,

It could well be a failing fuel pump or blocked filter.

Is the pump noisy?

yes sometimes the pump makes this quite loud buzzing noise.
I think I best replace fuel filters, air filters and sparplugs?

thx,

The pump is under the car inside the rear drivers wheel, you'll see a heavy plastic/rubber flap its under there.
