Ok if you open the engine and redo the cylinder head valves etc you know you have good top but how about the bottom part with pistons and cylinders... I poured the transmission fluid on the pistons and they held the fluid excellent no leaks but still I am not sure how will the engine hold after reinstalling the top part........?

how many miles on the bottom end?I have seen 500,000 miles or more on the bottom end before a rebuld. the rebuiold is like a big truck rebuild, the pistons are wet linered, that means the piston walls are removable and replaced w pistons, these engines are made to be maintained.by the time you need to do the valves, you willneed to do a complete reman lower and upper.

I’m slowly creeping my way to the ‘BIG 4 I have about 15,000 miles to go – maybe in the next two years. That will be 400,000 miles on an original, never worked on engine. These cars were very much built to last. Amazing indeed. [:)]
