Hi,
My friend has a 98 E55 AMG in Europe,
He drives the shit out of it:
hits 260km/h each day, brakes from that speed very hard!
pins it after each red light.

Question:

After the engine is fully warmed up, he comes home
and will idle the car for 30-45 minutes befor he goes again. He does this in winter and summer.
IS ANY DAMAGE BEING DONE TO THE ENGINE???
-he only started doing this after the car had about 3,000km. The car now has over 100,000km and he still idles it.

Mike, I think you have your answer: your pal drives the whey out of his E55, then leaves it idling for damn near ever, has done this for 60k miles or so, and it still pulls like a train. That says a lot for AMGs technicians who put up the engine and a ton about the design and materials that went into it. Great motor, great car.
