Hi,

I have the E 350, 2008. Current mileage: 28400 miles.

Changed oil 2 times so far at the dealer, 1st time at 9082 miles and 2nd times at 19744 miles.

Today, while driving I saw the message "Check Oil Engine level at the next refueling". Go home, pull the oil stick out and see the oil level is in the middle on the MIN and MAX. Turn on the engine again, the message disappears. Did not see any oil drop on the floor nor the bottom of the car.

Is there is any oil leak or the last oil change the dealer did not put enough oil (even they charged me for the price of 9 quarts)?

Will plan to do the oil change in the next 1000 miles. Is it OK for me to drive in this condition or do I have to add more oil until the next oil change or do I have to bring the car back for service check right now?

Thanks in advance.

My car burns 1 quart every 10k miles, I see this message right before I change my oil, but at 148k miles, I don't mind the inconvenience.
Keep driving, if the message comes up again, go back to the dealer and have them add 1 quart.
It is possible that the dealer did not put enough oil in the engine, or you may have an oil leak or the engine is burning oil.
Do a search on engine oil leaks on the 211 forum and you'll get an idea of what to look for.

My wife's 2006 E350 has had this happen as well. There was no oil issue. Turned out to be a sensor problem.

I got the message and just added a bit of oil. No big deal and the message went away.

Thank you Hockeypuck55. How long the problem go away until it appears again?
Do you have the sensor replaced?
I got it about 6500 miles after an oil change. I've only driven another 1k since then and no message has come back. I did not replace the sensor.
