Hi guys,
My s320 is my weekend driver. Consequently, I have only put like 6k kms on her since i got her 3 years ago.....today I took her out as usual but i noticed that when I floor the accelerator I no longer have that thrust she normally gives me....u know the one that throws u back in your seat....I am wondering what could be the problem as she was fine. She picks up speed gradually but not as quick as she used to. My gal is a S320, 1998 with 81k on her.
regards
rikana

Ive had mine only for a few months so I dont know if it ever had uumph, I love the car for its comfort and size, but find it seriously underpowered, I guess 3.2 is small for over 4k pounds, any opinions from long term, or original owners?

When was the last time you checked the transmission fluid?

You might need to do a fluid and filter change. It could return some git up and go. Might also want fresh fuel and to give it a really good italian tune up. Based on the lack of mileage, you could have carbon build up in the engine.

Using a premium fuel and driving it as it is meant to be driven is key.

I currently have 392,976kms on my 1997 S320 and the wheels scream if I apply the accelerator fully. I do follow the manufacturer recommended maintenance and have never had any issues.

European cars are meant to be driven and enjoyed. If you're not going to drive the car, expect poor performance and high repair/maintenance costs.

As stated. Drive it like you stole it. Climb hills WOT, stuff a few linebackers into the car and drive up hills. Barrel down the freeway with a bunch of fat folks in it. Give the engine a workout. Putting a bit of Ventil Stauber (valve cleaner) through it will help getting carbon off injectors too. Best to start with a half dose, per tank, then move up to full strength later.
