Hello everyone:
I've got a problem with my '89 190E 2.6.
Let me give u a bit of history....

Back in May I had some work done on the car. Mechanics fiddled around with the fuse box to try and diagnose a problem with the front twin cooling fans. The put it back together and eventually replaced a relay switch for the A/C....

In early September, I killed Bambi, so I replaced the front headlights with Euro lights and a new grill. They work fine and look pretty damn good! [8D]

Anyway, after the May mechanic trip, the aftermarket radio lost power, after a few days it started working again. After the installation of the euro lights, the radio stopped working again (i had shut off all power to the car by taking off one of the connectors to the battery and reattaching it when finished). But after the installation, not only does the radio have NO power nor do the vanity mirrors in both visors, nor the overhead intirior lamp, NOR the clock in the RPM guage.

Oh and none of the fuses are busted....

Soooo what's wrong and of course how can i fix it?
Thankyou!

Re: Electrical problem

Dough

When you say none of the fuses are gone, is it only a visible check you've done[?]

The fuses can corode around the end breaking the contact but still look O.K. from the top. Replace the fuse and if that doesn't work, check for a live at each of the accessories that arent' working.

If they have got live feeds, the only thing I can think of is that they possibly share an earth which has gone bad. In that case try running an earth to one of the accessories and see if it works.

Just an update...
I was sitting in my car and my friend opened the passanger vanity mirror and all of a sudden all the power came back... when i drove to school the next day, the power was fine, when i got back to the car after school the problem returned. I don't know what that means... and i doubt that it would have been from the fuse. Then again, i'm no mechanic.
