Hello to all!



I was changing a leaky valve cover gasket on my 1991 300E 3.0L over the weekend when I discovered a vacuum line that was not attached to anything and just tucked away by someone (not me).



Assuming the flying saucer shaped thing sitting on top of my exhaust manifold is my EGR valve, where does the vacuum line coming out of it attach to? Please be specific as I'm a novice to this whole DIY thing.

I'll answer this one again. The line goes to the passenger side behind the headlight on the fender. There should be a vacuum attachment there with that hose missing.

Thanks. The reason I asked again is that after reading your reply the first time, I checked in that location and found nothing missing.

you found nothing missing? or nothing there?

it sounds like someone disconnected the egr vac line to prevent it from activating

OK. Behind the wiper fluid reservoir, there are two vacuum check valves. One has a green top and one has a tan top. The EGR vacuum line goes into one of these two check valves. My EGR vacuum line runs through a black sheath with another vacuum line, so I could not tell which line went to which check valve...but it is one of these two check valves.

Thanks to all for your answers. I'm going to remove the washer reservior this weekend to have a good, close look.

Unless removed, there should be a sticker near where your hood latches, that shows how the lines run.
