I have a '88 560 sec up until recently the economy gauge has been working. I did get the chain and rails replaced, and I think it was about that time that the gauge stopped. Any ideas how I can get it going again or is that the end of the thing that shows how much money I am burning?

The economy gauge is a simple vacuum mechanism.

If it's stopped working it's because a vacuum hose got loose somewhere.

Shouldn't have anything to do with replacing the timing chain and guides, but a hose may have become disconnected in the process.

There is a yellow 3 port connector right behind the fuse box. This is where the vacuum hose for the economy gauge is connected. Check if that connection is secure and not disconnected.

Thanks Axelwulff and Hugo2648. I found the issue, t
here is a rubber tube lose next to the yellow connector. Unfortunately the connector has snapped and I will have to get a new one. EBay time. Thank you for your input at least I know where the problem is now.
