My 2000 E55 just hit 19,000 miles and it is getting time to buy some new tires. Stock sizes are 240 40 18 front, and 275 35 18 rear.

THINKING about going to 250 35 18 front, and 285 30 18 rear. DONT think there is any problem fitting the rears, but the "fronts" look tight already... anybody ever tried this "one up" tire sizing ?

ALSO - would really like to sit about 1/2 - 5/8 " lower. Heard about spring pad replacement. Is it worth it ? and how much does it actually lower the car ? THX !

Maybe a typo error but no such size as 250/35/18. If you are referring to 255/35/18 it will not fit. The front on the E55 is totally maxed out with no more room inside. However, the rear has plenty of space to use 285/30/18.

Thanks Kev - you are right, the front is very tight already. I do plan on going up one size to 285/30 from the stock 275/35's.

Luke suggests a potential prob with understeer, but I cant see how such a minor change is going to make a huge difference, and the larger tire should fill the wheel well better from an appearance standpoint.

Let you know how it turns out.

had to roll the lips slighty. Handling wasnt changed. But did addd H&R springs and KONI adj shocks, now handles better than an M5 and not like an Eldorado above 100mph!

What rim width are you running in the rear? Is the Unichip for the S/C or can you run it without the S/C? And lastly...anybody can chime in on this one...what is the stock width of the Monoblocks?

I took the E55 back from the wife and I can't leave it stock when I'm dirving it!
