I am driving a 1992 E500 Automatic.

Sometimes while I am driving my car on a highway and I am over 90 M/H or if I kick down on a low speed the gas pedale will suddenly disconnect and be dysfunctional (as if somebody cut the gas pipe) and then the ASR light will go on.
The only way I do to avoid this situation and be back to normal is to shift on N, turn off the engine and re-start it again, wait for few seconds and then shift on D. but you know how dangerous is this specially when you are on highway because normally when the engine is switched off it means the streering wheel and the Break pedal will be disabled.

Did this happen to someone before? any ideas??

I noticed that this will mostly happen when the engine is not warm enough...

Wow, you just resurrected one of the oldest one post threads I've seen on this site--congrats! I hope someone who's currently active can chime in to offer assistance.
