Hello. I have a slight problem with my car overheating and i'm not able to identify reason for this.
(for those that do not know what E50 is; basically
think of it as of E-class with 119 engine, like
this in E420).
Car had recently minor frontal accident which resulted
in replaced engine hood, bumper and radiator which wasn't really damaged, but some of plastic elements
that holds it to the chassis were broken. Plus it is
worth mentioning, that before i've got it fixed
i was driving it for some 2 or 3 days with viscous
fan blocked. Then everything was fixed and straightened, radiator replaced, viscous fan *seems*
to operate properly, electric fan turns on and
operates as usual, BUT.

The car operates in much higher temperature area than
before. It used to run straight 80..90MAX and now
no matter how warm/cold it is outside, it runs 100.110C. Also i've noticed slight recurring leaks
from expansion tank cap (i've cleaned them and
they were back next day). It is not that bad because
car is far from going red on temperature, plus
when it reaches 110c electric fan speeds up like
crazy and cools the thing down.

Do you thing that my visco could be damaged?
Any other reasons?

The radiators only last about ten years, you may need a new one.

In addition put Redline water wetter or Royal Purple's Purple Ice in the coolant.

Lastly I have a switch that fools that aux. fans to come on at 95f, beacause once you get to 110f, the timing is REALLY retarded and you are losing serious hp.

Let me know if you want one of the switches, they are $30.

Thanks. will check the belt. Radiator is all-new
(was replaced some 2 months ago to a new part).
